Introduction to Terrorism: DSC 2002
In today's information you are likely to hear a lot about terrorists or terrorist threats. But they have you ever wondered what all this means? What first comes to mind for many people is that anywhere in the world there are people who are trying to put dread into people. But would be that the only type of terrorism that that there is in this world. Within this newspaper I will define what the various kinds of terrorism you will find, as well as providing give two examples of terrorist scenarios. First, I will begin by defining what terrorism is precisely. Terrorism is usually defined as activity of war and movie theater, a dramatization of the most proscribed kind of violence- that which can be perpetuated upon innocent victims- played prior to and audience in the expect of creating a mood of fear, intended for political functions. Terrorism offers two categories International terrorism which generally occurs outside of the territorial jurisdiction of the United States, and Domestic which usually mainly occurs within the United states of america (Combs, pg 5). Within those two categories of terrorism, it is separated into five different typologies. Those typologies are; mass terror, dynastic assassination, arbitrary terror, targeted random horror and lastly technical terror. The first typology is mass terror which can be terror by a state, in which the regime coerces the competitors in the human population, whether organized or unorganized, sometimes in an institutionalized way (Combs, pg12). This form or terrorism is quite commonly dedicated by politics leaders and is also targeted to the overall population. Dynastic assassination is an harm upon a head of state or maybe a ruling elite. This is the sort of terrorism that the international community tried to criminalize in the mid-nineteenth century. This form uses extremely selective violent tactics (Combs, pg 13).
